ATTENTION EVERYONE: There’s been some changes to Twitter!

If you have a business page on Twitter, then hold on to your hats because the TwitTechs (yep, we’re on the nickname level, now) have made some great changes to your profile. Although these changes are still in Beta-testing, Twitter is showing your followers some very important information; when you’re most active on your profile and featured Tweets, which you can either choose yourself or Twitter will choose for you based on which Tweets have the most love from followers (it’s not quite clear what the deal is, since it’s still in Beta).

Similar to what Facebook implemented, the addition of letting your followers know when you’re most active is such a valuable feature! Because of this, it’s likely that people will become accustom to checking that feature on your page and not Tweet you until the time it says you’re on, in order to make sure that their Tweet is seen, which means you might be able to reduce the time and energy you have your social media manager dedicate to Twitter.

With the addition of the Featured section of your profile, this could present the opportunity for you to choose the Tweets you want people to see when they click on your profile that best showcase your company culture. Since we don’t know the full story, yet, let’s also talk about what this feature (no pun intended) could mean for your page if Twitter chooses the Tweets that show up: if Twitter chooses the Tweets with the most engagement and interaction, then those who click on your profile will see just how much your followers love you by the number of “likes” and “retweets”. If this is the case, then you can expect your most popular Tweets to get more and more popular, while your newer Tweets might suffer a bit if the Featured content shows up first. Either way, this new profile change is a good thing!
