If you’re a dentist or dental practice, blogging is a necessity for your dental practice marketing strategy. Unfortunately, many dentists find it hard to come up with content and topics to write about, and typically end up putting it on the back burner in the interests of running their business.

To help out all of our Dr. Yankem’s out there, here are eight subjects that you can use to write about, and examples to help you get started.

dental marketing

1. Consumer tips, i.e. Which Tooth Whitening Product is best for you?

There seems to be another commercial on every sitcom regarding a new revolutionary dental product. Between the teeth whiteners, breath fresheners, and electric toothbrushes, it can be hard for consumers to know what they should choose. So write reviews and consumer tips regarding products that you see. Tell readers what your educated thoughts are on the items that they commonly see on department store shelves. We’re looking forward to your post on which tooth whitener is the best on the market.

2. Preventative Care Tips

Your patients need to take care of their teeth outside of the week prior to their regular checkups. Give them tips for ongoing dental health and preventative steps that they can take.

3. Seasonal Dental Events

Have a conference you’re headed to, or an expo on a new line of products? Highlight the information that you come back with. Let patients know about the hot new trend or new capabilities that your office will now be able to assist them with.

4. Real Life Dental Stories, i.e. Before and After, Case Studies, etc.

Showing prospective patients what type of benefits they can expect by showing them your previous work is a great way to gain readers, and convert them into patients. While many people with dental problems are uncomfortable discussing them, they’re very interested in ways that they can be helped. Share a patients success, before and after photos, or even actual video testimonials.

5. Dental Trivia

Many people don’t know a great deal about their dental health. So use your blog to write dental trivia and answer questions that are commonly unknown. For example, an article on why patients should be flossing, or what flossing actually does to help your dental health.

6. How-To Videos, i.e. How to properly floss your teeth

Most of non-dentists simply “wing it” when it comes to many dental hygiene tasks. How-To articles and videos are perfect for blogging about and attracting readers. Use video marketing to turn your readers into patients by positioning yourself as the trusted professional in your community.

7. Dental Tips for Children

Help parents to get their kids more interested in dental health. Not only can you write tips on how kids can keep their teeth healthy, but you can also write articles about how parents can get their kids more interested in dental health.

8. Dental Education, i.e. The How’s and Why’s

Show off that education a little – And explain the Why’s and How’s of dentistry. Why do I need a root canal? How does a root canal actually work and what does it do? These are just a couple examples of the thousands of topics you could cover in your dental blog.
