Back in 2014, Facebook announced that their new work platform was in its beginning stages of development.  Two years later, the platform is getting ready to officially launch.

Facebook’s new platform specifically geared towards helping those at a company communicate better, simply called “Facebook at Work”, will finally be launching in the next few days.  The unique vantage point that Facebook has versus other co-worker to co-worker communication tools is the fact that their platform is already so widely known and comes naturally to almost all users, making it very appealing to those running the company.  Furthermore, the “new Facebook” will be partnering with other helpful tools, like Asana, to further help companies of all sizes stay in touch with employees and easily share tasks and things that need to be done back and forth.  It was also stated that Facebook will announce other integrations when the tool launches.

Facebook also announced that it will be basing the prices for this new platform off of who in your company actually uses the tool.  This per-user pricing should make this new tool even more attractive to all of you smaller businesses, in particular.  Thankfully with similar competing parties, such as Salesforce Chatter, Slack and Convo in the $11.00/month range, you can expect Facebook to be right around there, in order to put themselves in the running as potential communication systems for companies.

The timing of the long-awaited Facebook at Work launch coincides perfectly with the death of Microsoft’s Yammer.  This marketing stroke-of-genius is the perfect way to make their new system one of the only options on the market for those inevitably left without an effective way to communicate with their co-workers.
