It’s that time of year again – March Madness! The 2016 NCAA Tournament began last night with the #FirstFour play in games. It’s a great time of year to watch great basketball, drama, and “From The Parking Lot” buzzer beaters. If you’re going to participating on social media, there’s a ton of hashtags to keep up with. But don’t worry, here’s a quick list to help you know and find the hashtags to look out for on social media as we dance to One Shining Moment. Okay that was the last subtle pun, I promise. Enjoy!

Official Hashtag: #marchmadness

The Major Hashtags: #BigDance, #bracketology, #brackets,#collegebball,#marchmadness16, #myfinal4, #NCAA, #NCAA2016,#NCAAbrackets,#ncaatournament, #ncaatourney

Hashtags That Could Get Interesting: #buzzerbeater, #cbs, #cbssports,#cinderella,#collegebasketball, #ncaabasketball, #ncaabball, #ncaahoops,#underdogs, #upset, breakout players’ names during the tournament, and don’t forget about the #NIT

Round-Specific Hashtags: Use of these will increase as the tournament goes on.
#RoundOf64, #Roundof32, #Sweet16, #Elite8, #FinalFour / #Final4,#NationalChampionship

Regional Hashtags: Alone they’re not always useful, but if you pair them with #NCAA or other terms, these are interesting to monitor as well: #Midwest, #West,#South, #East

Team-Specific Hashtags: Follow the conversation at the team-level with team-specific hashtags. This could be school name, a version of that, or a mascot name. Here in South Florida, we’re supporting the Florida Gulf Coast University Eagles (#FGCU or #DunkCity), and in the women’s tournament, we’re pulling for our South Florida Bulls. Have a favorite school, alma mater, or local team? Support them on social media.

Regardless, enjoy the Big Dance! I know I will!
